Water and Garri Movie soundtrack

Tiwa Savage made her debut as a filmmaker with “Water and Garri,” a feature-length film in which she not only assumes the role of the lead actor but also serves as the executive producer. The narrative explores the life of Aisha, a fashion designer who returns to Nigeria after a decade in the US, grappling with the cultural shifts in her hometown and their impact on her journey.

Drawing its name from the beloved West African staple, cassava dish, the film loosely takes inspiration from Tiwa Savage’s 2021 EP of the same title. This project reflects her diverse range of global influences, shaped by her upbringing in Lagos, teenage years in London, and university experience in the US, highlighting the intersectionality of her creative and cultural journey.

Despite sharing a name, both the EP and the film stand as independent entities. “Water and Garri” the film features its own original soundtrack comprising 10 songs, where Tiwa Savage explores various genres including Jazz, R&B, gospel, and folk, providing a comprehensive exploration of Aisha’s transformative journey. The project also boasts collaborations with notable artists such as Black Sherif, The Cavemen, Reekado Banks, Asa, Young John, Richard Bona, and the OG Olamide. Hop in!
